Francis Melfort William Fitzherbert, 15th Baron Stafford, was born on 13th March 1954 and is an English baron, who is the representative and heir of line of several older baronies of Stafford dating back to 1299.
Lord Stafford is part of the landed gentry family of Fitzherbert, whose most famous member was Maria Fitzherbert, the first wife of King George IV.
He was appointed High Sheriff of Staffordshire for 2005, and as such the first former Peer to be a High Sheriff since 1371. Lord Francis Stafford made the first contribution to the High Sheriff Endowment Fund for Staffordshire.
Sir James Appleton Hawley has been the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire since 6th September 1993. In 2010 he was made K.C.V.O. (Knights Commander of the Victorian Order) in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
