Grants between £4000 - £10,000 are available for volunteer led community groups working exclusively in the area of Stoke-On-Trent and Staffordshire.
The Comic Relief scheme is aimed towards target small community groups, especially those who are unable to access larger funders to help make them more sustainable over the long term. For example a grant may be given for buying equipment, small scale building works or providing training for volunteers.
What can be funded:
> Voluntary or Community Groups
> Residents Associations
> Community Centres
> Social Enterprises (at the discretion of the panel)
> Credit Unions
> Food Co-ops
> Organisations that have been running for at least 12 months
> Groups that have an income of less than £100,000, but preferably less than £60,000 p.a.
> Projects should be run by people directly affected by the issues they are dealing with
> Organisations must have a clear understanding of the needs of their community
> Projects should help people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives
> Projects should increase local services, OR
> Build the skills of local people OR
> Increase Community Cohesion OR
> Respond to local economic needs
> Grants awarded between £4000 and £!0,000
What will not be funded:
> Statutory organisations (including Local Authorities, Parish Councils, Schools, Police, PCTs)
> Organisations that receive core funding from a Statutory body
> Any organisation which will benefit a statutory organisation
> Any national organisation based in Staffordshire
> Solely commercial ventures
> Party political activity
> Activity promoting religion or with a strong religious undertone
> Projects that benefit Asylum Seekers, (as defined by the Home Office)

How to Apply
The easiest way to apply for a Comic Relief Grant is by our apply online function. It is submitted to us immediately and is quicker to process.
However you can apply by e-mail. You can download a copy of the application form by clicking the 'Download & Apply by Email' icon on the left.
Fill it in and return it to us by email. You can scan in all supporting documents (quotes, constitution, accounts and signed signature sheet) and send them by email too.
The least preferred option is to complete it by hand. You can download a copy of the application form and post it to us. It will not be treated any differently to an online or e-mailed application but processing it takes a little longer.
