We Love Stoke Fund
The We Love Stoke Fund was started as the Stoke on Trent Communtiy Fund in 2008, but didn't receive it's official launch until January 2011.
It was launched officially at the Lord Mayor's Parlour at The Kings Hall in Stoke, Stoke on Trent, at a reception attended by Staffordshire Community Foundation Chief Executive, (now trustee), Terry Walsh, Staffordshire Community Foundation Chairman Graham Stow, High Sheriff Ian Dudson, Lord Mayor of Stoke on Trent Denver Tolley, Chief Executive of Voluntary Action Stoke on Trent Sajid Hashmi and local businessman and entrepreneur Mo Chaudry, among others.
The idea of the fund is to encourage business, enterprises and individuals to donate to a central fund. All the money raised will be invested according to Charity Commission guidelines to enable the fund to grow in value. The interest earned on the fund will be split, part of it added to the fund and reinvested so that it continues to grow, year on year. The other part of the interest will be used to create a grants scheme specifically for third sector, charity and voluntary organisations in the city of Stoke on Trent. Grants can then be given out year on year and the fund will continue to grow to give out more each year.
