Awarded £2500
The Rising Brook Writers applied for a Grassroots Grant to help them publish their latest book, "Where There's a Will, There's a Way" (Published 2009).
"Where There's a Will, There's a Way" is a jointly written detective story put together by participants from Cannock, Meir Heath, Great haywood and Highfields. The participants worked via email to individually write sections of the story that would be 'put together' by the bulletin editor.
To accompany the book an audio DVD was produced by volunteers which has since been offered to a local Hopital Radio Station and the local Talking Newspaper to enable those who are visually challenged, blind or dyslexic the opportunity to enjoy the story. There are also online editions and mp3's available for download, increasing the number of beneficaries to the 100s, even 1000s.
Stephanie Spiers, Treasurer states that "The trustees of Rising Brook Writers are very grateful to the Staffordshire Community Foundation for awarding this project a Grassroots Grant to support the charity's Online Outreach Programme".
